 Brigadoon is a gated community on the west side of Athens Alabama.   The original community was designed as an exclusive waterfront community on the Joe Wheeler section of the Tennessee River.    The majority of the lake front homes have been built.   The community is one of the few truly gated communities in Limestone County, gates are shut nightly.    The Highland Village community is part of the Brigadoon development and shares the pool, clubhouse, green space areas, boat launch, on-site storage and gated entrance.    The design of the Highland Village community was to provide for smaller homes to be located in an exclusive waterfront community.
